Get to Know this Neighborhood

Gig Harbor North is one of the fastest growing parts of Gig Harbor. This growth is all part of Gig Harbor's strategy to absorb the tens of thousands of new folks moving to Pierce County in the coming years. Many of the new construction neighborhoods, stores, and facilities in Gig Harbor North have been built in the past ten years, with many more homes and businesses still to be built.

Why this Neighborhood is so Great

Gig Harbor North is a neighborhood that has grown quickly, but it's grown with a plan. From the YMCA to Target and Costco, everything is carefully connected by roads and sidewalks and surrounded by mature trees. It's the suburbs for sure, but it's a suburb where you can follow the sidewalk from your front door to Target and to Starbucks. There are also great parks including Sehmel Homestead Park and the Cushman Trail which connects Gig Harbor North for walkers and cyclists all the way to the Narrows Bridge and beyond.

What to do in this Neighborhood

Gig Harbor North is home to the area's newest and most finely appointed YMCA which has great facilities, including a swimming pool. The Canterwood Golf and Country Club is located here, as is the shooting range. If you're looking for shopping beyond Costco and Target, the shops of Gig Harbors Uptown and Downtown are only a few minutes away.

Whether you're looking for a starter home or a luxury home in a gated community Gig Harbor North probably has it. While there aren't a ton of older homes to choose from, people who love planned neighborhoods and newer suburban and contemporary architecture will find lots to love.

What the Neighbors are Saying

We asked Gig Harbor North residents to tell us about their neighborhood, and here’s what they had to say:

Awesome place to raise a family! Great schools, small town feel but lots of shopping and restaurants (more on the way!), beautiful beaches, state parks, and lots of options for living (acreage, waterfront, to urban style)!

Although its not nearly as much of a small town these days, Gig Harbor is still appreciated for its beautiful scenery, and larger, wooded parcels of land. In recent years many restaurants have opened and improvements have been made to the public spaces and parks.
