Fox Island is one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Pierce County. There was a time when buying a house on the island was sort of the “affordable alternative” to a house in Gig Harbor. These days, that’s not quite the case. While it’s true Gig Harbor has had 36 sales over $1,000,000 so far in 2021 and the island has “only” had 7 million dollar sales- Fox Island is a lot smaller! So far this year only 11 homes have sold on Fox Island, and 7 of the were over $1,000,000.

Fox Island is quintessential northwest living. Many homes on the outer edges of the island have incredible views of Mt Rainier or the Olympics as well as the water, while homes on the inner part of the island have privacy, property, and a rural feeling. No matter where you live on the island, access to fishing, boating, or a walk on the water is available to everyone.

Does Fox Island have a bridge?
Yes! If you’re coming from Tacoma or Seattle you actually take TWO BRIDGES to get to Fox Island. First you take the Tacoma Narrows Bridge from Tacoma to Gig Harbor and then after driving through Gig Harbor you take the Fox Island Bridge to get to Fox Island. How much does it cost to buy a waterfront house on the island in 2021?
All of the waterfront homes that have sold on Fox Island in 2021 have sold for more than $1,400,000.
How far is it from Gig Harbor?
Driving to Skansie Brothers Park in Downtown Gig Harbor from Fox Island takes about 20 minutes. If you’re just going Uptown (where the supermarket, movie theater, and hospital are) it only takes about 15 minutes.
How far is Fox Island from Downtown Tacoma?
Driving from Fox Island to Downtown Tacoma with no traffic usually takes about 30 minutes.
How far is Fox Island from JBLM?
Driving to JBLM takes about 35 minutes on a normal day. That said in the morning, during rush hour, when life gets hectic? It could take 45 minutes to an hour. Be prepared!
How far is Fox Island from Sea-Tac Airport?
On a good day a drive to the airport from Fox Island should take about 50 minutes. That said, factoring in morning northbound I-5 rush hour nastiness could easily take an hour, even an hour and a half at the wrong time!
