The borders of Tacoma’s South End are south of Downtown, East of I-5, West of Tacoma’s Eastside, and north of Highway 512. This encompasses a lot of neighborhoods including Lincoln, Whitman, Fern Hill, and the South End in General.

The South End is a great choice for commuters. There are also bike boulevards connecting it to Downtown Tacoma and the PLU Campus to the south in Parkland.

Why South End is so Great

Living in Tacoma’s South End is super convenient. Whether you’re commuting north to Seattle, to Downtown Tacoma, or south to JBLM, all of the freeways are right there. The Tacoma Mall is just across I-5.

The South End has several local business districts including the Lincoln International District and the Fern Hill Business District. Pacific Avenue and all of the accompanying businesses also runs through the South End.

What to do in South End

From parks to restaurants to bars, Tacoma’s South End has plenty of local faves to offer residents. Walking or jogging around recently restored Wapato Lake Park is a joy in all four seasons. Picking season at Charlotte’s Blueberry Park runs from July to September each year and is fun for everyone.

Some of the best food in the city is located in the South End, including Vien Dong in the Lincoln District and Vuelve a la Vida on 6th Avenue. Fern Hill boasts Little Jerry’s, a Seinfeld-themed breakfast joint.

There is a huge variety of homes in Tacoma's Southend. From historic craftsmen to homes built in the 50's & 60's to new construction. There's something for everyone in the Southend.
