Hilltop Kitchen is a neighborhood bar that has been serving up amazing cocktails in Tacoma’s Hilltop Neighborhood for a couple of years now. Their drink menu focuses on mezcal, tequila, rum, and cachaça, with a healthy dose of whiskey. Their food menu is constantly changing and inspired by the owner’s travels in the American Southwest and Latin America while honoring what they love about the Northwest.
The gang here regularly wins awards for their food and drink, most recently on the Best Bars of the Northwest list from Food and Wine Magazine. This is great place for people looking for vegetarian and vegan options as they often have more than one great thing to choose from! Just ask.
Our favorite things at Hilltop Kitchen:
Hilltop Kitchen Gin and Tonic
A classic drink that doesn’t seem very exciting, but they make their own tonic and it’s delicious. It’s not for everyone, (one of my friends said it reminded him of Tang) but it’s really good.
Crossing the Rubicon
Rum, Falernum, Lime, Green Chartreuse, and Burnt Rosemary (!!??) served on the rocks make this drink a local favorite.
Tacos
The menu at Hilltop Kitchen is seasonal, but the tacos are good YEAR ROUND. Try the unusual tacos like yam, beetroot, or rabbit!
